I really liked it, but then again, I like almost anything with Christopher Lee in it. I think his nose hairs hypnotize me! Hahahaha! My favs with him range from his Satanic movies down to being Willy Wonka's daddy :).
So, being a Hammer Film, I had great expectations, and I was not let down. There was good ole Satanic goodies in this, but Satan was not the object of affection! It was Astaroth(Ashtaroth, Astarot, Asteroth)prince of accusers and inquisitors! The Demon Prince who rides a winged beast, you know, this guy..
But, the movie makes him look like a gold christ on an inverted cross. Oh well.Summary as follows..An American occult novelist battles to save the soul of a young girl from a group of Satanists, led by an excommunicated priest, who plan on using her as the representative of the Devil on Earth. That is where the whole thing is confusing..but he kept calling Astaroth, God. Either way..it had neat effects for being a 70's movie! I think I like the older horrors, now that I'm seeing them! I finally saw Black Sabbath this past spring and I loved it! What? Oh, yeah. So, the effects were great..you see a man burned alive(heehee), things flying across the room, some weird gold-guy sex scene, and this little cutie that I'm not sure if there was something sexual going on or she was trying to shove it up her vag..!
Ain't he a cutie! So, I do recommend this movie, specially after almost pulling my fucking hair out after watching Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter!! UGH!!!
