Info Post
(2004) **1/2

JPX hated this thing when he reviewed it in '07, but then Catfreek kind of liked it in '08 when she saw it. I'm comfortably in the middle.

On a road trip to see Ellen DeGenere's partner, Portia de Rossi, get married, friends in a winnebago stop for the night at a creepy inn. Unfortunately, the owner is into some crazy "Asian rituals" as they're referred to in the movie, which basically means he has a wooden box that turns people into killers.

This movie is trying really hard to be a spoof on horror movies. It succeeds at some points, but its attempts at trying to be over the top work too well, as, really, this film is just too over the top to be a spoof. Okay, that didn't make sense. Think of it like this... the self-awareness of the scream films, the desperation of the scary movie films, and the sensibilities of the Farrelly brothers films.

It's fun to see because it is composed almost entirely of actors who you know you've seen in other films, but can't place them. Seriously, I spent a third of the movie on imdb finding these people (the guy from outsourced, the girl from jeepers creepers, the guy from waitress, the poor-man's uma thurman, etc.) And really, if you just see certain scenes, this movie can be very funny. As a feature, it gets tiring.

The last 30 minutes is very fun with the gore and the musical number "We're coming to kill ya! Coming to kill ya!" with zombie line dancing.
