Chad Michael Murray and Kevin Durand will play police officers in the real life indie drama "Fruitvale" says Variety.
Ryan Coogler wrote and will direct the film about the shooting of Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan), a 22-year-old black man detained on New Year’s Day 2009 by the Bay Area Rapid Transit Police
Grant was shot in the back and killed, with the event captured by cell phone cameras. The subsequent trial and its verdict led to protests and riots.
Oscar winner Octavia Spencer ("The Help") is set to play Grant's tough and protective mother. Tristan Wilds will play Grant’s best friend while Melonie Diaz is the mother of his young child. Ahna O'Reilly also stars.
Forest Whitaker and Nina Yang will produce the film.
